Additionally, in accordance with the European (Global Data Protection Regulation) GDPR, the Application and Website are built under the policy of Privacy by Design.

When ordering or registering on our site, as appropriate, you may be asked to enter your name, email address, demographic data and other details to help you with your experience. Anonymised gameplay logs will be accessed for analysis purposes, including numerical cognition research. At all times, the privacy by design approach will ensure that PII will not be released to third parties.

We collect information from you when you register on our site or enter information on our site or through our app. Browsing and gameplay logs will be recorded.

How do we use your information?

We may use the information we collect from you when you register, make a purchase, sign up for our newsletter, respond to a survey or marketing communication, surf the website, use the app, or use certain other site features in the following ways:

How do we protect your information?

Privacy by design separates PII from the anonymized gameplay logs. Our website and app only provide entertainment, articles and information. We never ask for credit card numbers. The website and data stores are hosted by Amazon Web Services, Inc. and utilizes the protection offered by that service. All data is hosted on servers physically located within the European Union.

Do we use ‚cookies‘?

Yes. Cookies are small files that a site or its service provider transfers to your computer’s hard drive through your Web browser (if you allow) that enables the site’s or service provider’s systems to recognize your browser and capture and remember certain information. For instance, cookies are used to help us understand your preferences based on previous or current site activity, which enables us to provide you with improved services. We also use cookies to help us compile aggregate data about site traffic and site interaction so that we can offer better site experiences and tools in the future.

  • You can change your personal information by logging in to your account and changing the data associated with your account

How does our website handle Do Not Track signals?

We honour Do Not Track signals. We do not plant cookies, or use advertising when a Do Not Track (DNT) browser mechanism is in place.

Does our website allow third-party behavioural tracking?

It’s also important to note that we do not allow third-party behavioural tracking based on website browsing.

Parents in Control of Data Privacy

When it comes to the collection of personal information from children under the age of 13 years old, we support the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the EU GDPR which places parents in control of their children’s PII.
We market to and collect information from children under 13 for the purpose of enhancing and building their mathematical skills. We do not let third parties, including ad networks or plug-ins collect PII from children under 13. All gameplay data is a anonymized within our servers.

We adhere to the following COPPA tenants:

  • We will not require a child to disclose more information than is reasonably necessary to participate in an activity.
  • Parents can review their child’s personal information, direct us to delete it, and refuse to allow any further collection or use of the child’s information.
  • Parents can agree to the collection and use of their child’s information, but still not allow disclosure to third-parties unless that’s part of the service.
  • Parents can review, delete, manage or refuse with whom their child’s information is shared directly on the DuckontheRun app or by contacting us directly.
  • We will notify parents directly before collecting PII from their kids. This includes what specific information you will want to collect and how it might be disclosed, a link to your online privacy policy, and how the parents can give their consent. Also, if the parent doesn’t consent within a reasonable time, you will delete the parent’s and child’s online contact info from your records.

The GDPR and Fair Information Practices

The GDPR and Fair Information Practices Principles form the backbone of privacy law in the United States and the European Union.
In order to be in line with Fair Information Practices we will take the following responsive action, should a data breach occur:

  • We will notify the data subjects via our website within 72 hours

We also agree to the Individual Redress Principle which requires that individuals have the right to legally pursue enforceable rights against data collectors and processors who fail to adhere to the law. This principle requires not only that individuals have enforceable rights against data users, but also that individuals have recourse to courts or government agencies to investigate and/or prosecute non-compliance by data processors.

GDPR Data Rights

Exercising of all GDPR Data rights will be administered by the Data Privacy Officer. A fee of CHF 20 will be charged, if the Data Privacy Officer deems a data access request to be manifestly unfounded or excessive, particularly if it is repetitive. All data subjects exercising their rights, must allow us to verify their identity, and relationship to any minor on behalf of whom they are exercising their data rights.
We will need two copies of forms of identification to verify your identity, which can be:

  • Passport
  • Driving licence
  • Birth certificate*
  • Utility bill (from last 3 months)
  • Current vehicle registration document
  • Bank statement (from last 3 months)
  • Rent book (from last 3 months).

*For exercising data rights for minors, we will need a certified copy of their full birth certificate, clearly stating both parent’s names.
